A total of 192 vessels have left the Ukrainian sea ports since the so-called ‘grain initiative’ was launched.
The relevant statement was made by the Ukrainian Infrastructure Ministry on Facebook, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
“A total of 192 vessels have left the Ukrainian ports since the ‘grain initiative’ was launched. In general, 4.38 million tonnes of agricultural products were exported to Asian, European and African countries,” the report states.
On September 22, 2022, seven more vessels loaded with 107.5 thousand tonnes of Ukrainian-produced agricultural crops, intended for Asian and European countries, departed from the Odesa region’s ports.
One of the vessels, the bulk carrier BC VANESSA, was chartered by the UN World Food Programme and sailed from Odesa Port with 30,000 tonnes of Ukrainian-produced wheat on board. The bulk carrier will arrive in Pakistan, where it will be unloaded, and wheat will be sent to Afghanistan, which is now facing the food crisis.
A reminder that, on July 22, 2022, Ukraine, Turkey, Russia and the United Nations signed an agreement in Istanbul, unblocking grain and food exports from three Ukrainian ports. The first vessel left Odesa Port on August 1, 2022.
