HYDERABAD: The first stage of the redevelopment of Secunderabad Railway Station is nearing completion with work on the foundation, pillars and temporary shelter done.
“The redeveloped station will cater to the steadily increasing footfall and will be able to meet the passengers’ demand for the next 40 years. The upgradation work of the station is being taken up at the cost of nearly 700 crore and every stage of the project is being monitored to ensure timely completion,” SCR GM Arun Kumar Jain said.
Work on the RPF building is also being carried out at a brisk pace with the foundation being laid and columns constructed. Slab and partition-related works are in progress. The new building is likely to be opened in the next couple of months.
Officials said upgradation works were being done in a phased manner and are on schedule.
