96% of funds used for development of NHs in 2022-23 in Rajasthan

JAIPUR: Of the total funds, Rs 6612.54 crore, allocated and released for the development of national highways (NHs) in Rajasthan in 2022-23, 96%, i.e. Rs 6612.54 crore, have already been utilised till December 2022, ministry of road transport and highways stated.

While national highways covering 760 km have been sanctioned in 2022-23, 481 km have already been covered (December 2022) as far as construction is concerned, informed minister of road transport and highways, Nitin Gadkari while replying to an unstarred question in Lok Sabha on February 9.

“PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan (NMP) envisages a mechanism for coordinated planning and holistic integrated infrastructure development in the country across all sectors through inter-connected and multimodal transportation networks for economic development, improved trade competitiveness, promotion of exports and employment generation, etc,” the reply said.

“It envisages establishing integration and synergy amongst different infrastructure sector projects such as railways, roads, ports, waterways, airports, mass transport, logistics infrastructure, supported by complementary roles of energy transmission, information technology & communication, social infrastructure, etc., so as to facilitate coordinated and integrated planning, project preparations and implementations, optimisation of logistics arrangements and efficient transportation systems,” it stated.

As per the ministry, it is primarily responsible for development and maintenance of NHs. “All the NHs development projects of the ministry are planned in line with PM Gati Shakti NMP principles. No separate funds are allocated by the Ministry for PM Gati Shakti NMP,” it added.
