Akasa Air, the crisis-hit domestic carrier, has temporarily halted its flights from Bengaluru to Chennai and Hyderabad due to operational reasons. As per a TOI report, this sudden suspension has left many passengers, who had pre-booked tickets on these routes, waiting for refunds. The airline is expected to cancel more flight operations from Bengaluru in the upcoming days.
Passengers have expressed their dissatisfaction on social media platforms, highlighting the delay in receiving full refunds. Despite the airline initiating the refund process, cancellation fees have been deducted, causing frustration among customers.
Furthermore, sources at Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) have confirmed that an Akasa Air flight from Bengaluru to Hyderabad was abruptly suspended several weeks ago, even though many passengers had already booked tickets for the route.
In addition to the Bengaluru-Hyderabad route, Akasa Air has also suspended its flights between Bengaluru and Chennai. This particular route was launched with great enthusiasm in mid-2022.
An Akasa Air ground staffer at KIA told TOI, “We have been informed that operational hurdles are the reason behind these suspensions. Currently, we no longer operate flights between Bengaluru and Hyderabad, and Bengaluru and Chennai. The Bengaluru-Kochi route is also facing a crisis, with recent flight cancellations and rescheduling causing significant inconvenience to passengers.”
Sources have indicated that more flights between Bengaluru and other destinations may be suspended in the coming weeks. However, TOI’s queries to Akasa Air regarding these developments have not received any response as of Wednesday.
