AKRON, Ohio – The Akron Zoo’s family friendly Halloween event, Boo at the Zoo, is back this year and is scheduled Saturdays and Sundays, Oct. 15-16, Oct. 22-23 and Oct. 29-30 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Guests are encouraged to wear costumes to the events, which feature trick-or-treating at 12 decorated stations throughout the zoo. Adults may also wear costumes, but are prohibited from covering their faces with costume masks, mascot heads or face paint.
The zoo will be participating in the Teal Pumpkin Project for guests who have food allergies. Attendees can request a teal pumpkin treat at each station to receive non-food items.
The zoo will also offer its Zoothing Boo event on Saturday, Oct. 29 at 9:30 a.m. The event allows guests with different abilities the chance to trick-or-treat with less crowds and noise before the zoo opens for Boo at the Zoo. Zoothing Boo tickets are separate from general admission and are limited to help manage crowd size.
Boo at the Zoo tickets are available online at akronzoo.org/boo-at-the-zoo or at the Akron Zoo ticket counter. Event tickets purchased online are available at a discounted rate and online ticket holders will receive early entrance into the event at 10:30 a.m. Online tickets are $13 for trick-or-treaters, $10 for non-member observers and $3 for parking or shuttle fee. Tickets purchased at the zoo are $15 for treaters, $12 for non-member observers and $5 for parking or shuttle fee. Tickets for Akron Zoo members who want to observe are free. Admission is also free for children under 2 who do not wish to trick-or-treat.
