Dell has unveiled the Alienware m16 at CES 2023. The laptop comes with the latest Intel Raptor Lake mobile CPUs as well as unspecified next-gen AMD Ryzen chips.

The design of the Alienware m16 is in line with other Alienware gaming laptops, for instance, the x14 R2. Dell claims that it has tweaked the perimeter foot to increase airflow from the bottom of the chassis. Talking about airflow, the Alienware m16 employs a vapor chamber and Element 31 thermal paste to cool the CPU and the GPU.

The Alienware m16 comes with both Intel and AMD CPUs but, at the time of writing, only the exact Intel chips are known. The processors on offer include the 14-core Core i7-13650HX, the 16-core Core i7-13700HX, and the 24-core Core i9-13900HX. On the GPU side, Dell only alludes to next-gen Nvidia GeForce RTX and AMD Radeon graphics. However, it is fairly easy to ascertain that the m16 will come with the newly announced RTX 40 mobile GPUs.

Moving on to memory and storage, Dell offers a plethora of different options here. For instance, you have the option to go with 16, 32, or 64 GB of 4800 MHz user-replaceable DDR5 memory. The laptop also has four m.2 slots. Dell offers up to 9 TB of PCIe storage as an option.

In terms of the monitor, users can choose between three different panels. There is a 16-inch QHD+ (2560×1600) panel with a 165 HZ refresh rate, another QHD+ screen with a 240 Hz refresh rate, and an FHD+ display with a bonkers 480 Hz refresh rate. All three displays are rated for 300 nit peak brightness, a 1000:1 contrast ratio, and feature a 3 ms response time. They also boast 100% coverage of either sRGB or DCI-P3 gamut, Nvidia G-SYNC, AMD FreeSync, and Dell’s ComfortView Plus blue light-reducing technology.

Furthermore, the Alienware m16 houses plenty of ports. On the left, there is a single ethernet port, a 3.5 mm headphone/microphone combo jack, and a single USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A port with PowerShare. Around the back we have one DC-in for power, two Thunderbolt 4 ports with 15 W Power Delivery and DisplayPort 1.4, one USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A port, a mini-Display port, and a full-size SD card slot.

Dell also offers a bunch of keyboard options with the Alienware m16. For instance, you can choose the Alienware M series 1-zone or the per-key RGB AlienFX keyboard. There is also the option for an ultra-low-profile CherryMX mechanical keyboard for laptops with AlienFX per-key lighting.

Finally, the Alienware m16 will be on store shelves this winter with high-end models arriving first starting at US$2,599. Entry-level models will start at US$1,899 and will come down the line.
