Andhra Pradesh: MSME internships to boost employability | Amaravati News

AMARAVATI: In a move to make the students pursuing different technical courses at polytechnic colleges employable soon after finishing their courses, the technical education department has roped in Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) industries to provide internship to students.
The MSME industry association has also agreed to pay 6,000 monthly stipend to all the students during the training period.
Senior IAS officer C Nagarani noticed that the diploma students were struggling due to lack of industry exposure resulting in unemployment or underpayment soon after assuming charge as technical education commissioner about six months ago and held several rounds of discussions with the industry representatives. “Students who join the diploma courses in polytechnic colleges are from economically backward classes and getting employment is their immediate need. The very purpose of taking the diploma route is defeated if they are unable to get the jobs,” said Nagarani.
She, however, observed that they could not find fault with the industry as well, as they might be looking for those who are well-versed with the technical work. The solution lies in providing proper training and industrial exposure to the students, said Nagarani.
