JAMMU, Aug 7: The Jammu and Kashmir Council of Associated Chamber of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM) – one of the oldest industry body of the country, organised ASSOCHAM J&K IT Roundtable at Jammu today.
Dr Devansh Yadav, Managing Director, JKTPO & J&K IT Infrastructure Company was special guest during the event, which was attended by some top IT companies of the country like Freshworks, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Icon Power, GI Telenet, Learning Spiral and many more.
The event started with welcome address by Manik Batra, Chairman, ASSOCHAM J&K Council, who said that J&K has huge untapped potential in IT & ITES services. “We have highly skilled youth and there is huge potential in Start Ups. For the IT companies looking to invest here, there are many incentives other than that the cost of operations would be much lower as compared to rest of the country and there is availability of skilled manpower,” he said.
On the occasion, a detailed presentation on the industrial ecosystem of J&K with various fiscal and non-fiscal incentives applicable to the IT sector of J&K was given by Abhijeet Sharma, representative of JKTPO.
Dr Devansh Yadav, in his special address, briefed investors about the various initiatives and sectoral policies undertaken by the respective departments for grounding investments in the UT of J&K.
“J&K already has policy advocacy along with institutional mechanism on the ground and now impetus lies with the private sector to invest in the IT sector of J&K,” he said, adding “We will work jointly with the IT Department for facilitating investors interested in setting up their base in J&K.”
During the open house discussion, IT companies shared their expectations from the Government to invest in J&K. Devansh Yadav assured all possible support to IT industries to invest in Jammu and Kashmir.
Freshworks, which was the prime partner for this event, was represented by Jyoti Saini, Sales Manager, Freshworks. She also presented a detailed presentation about their company and the way forward for J&K.
Niraj Kumar, Convenor IT Council, ASSOCHAM J&K, said, “IT companies are willing t invest and we are trying to make a bridge between the IT companies and Government.”
Bhupesh Gupta, Co-Chairman, ASSOCHAM J&K Council, said that the event was organised to provide a platform where Government and IT companies can understand each other’s requirement and an industry friendly policy can be prepared for the holistic growth of J&K.
