DEHRADUN: After recording a Rs 49 crore income on the Kedarnath route, the Uttarakhand Civil Aviation Development Authority (UCADA) is now considering roping in the Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) to manage heli-ticket bookings for the Badrinath and Hemkund Sahib routes as well.
This move comes after UCADA successfully collaborated with the IRCTC for chopper services on the Kedarnath route in the previous year.
The income of Rs 49 crore marks a significant increase of Rs 20 crore compared to the previous year’s earnings, which stood at Rs 29.7 crore in 2022, a communique from the agency said.
UCADA CEO R Ravishankar highlighted that the income in 2023 witnessed a 65% increase compared to 2022. He shared plans to replicate the successful model for other pilgrimage sites.
Commenting on the develpment, chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said, “Earlier, there were issues of black marketing and frauds related to heli-tickets, causing inconvenience to devotees. It took 15 years, but we were successful in bringing things back on track.”
