Becks chuck Darts…out of the Cup!

[ad_1]

Beckenham Town have had a quite magnificent campaign so far- and it continued as they travelled to take on National League South Dartford at Princes Park, home of the giant wooden man. Becks took an early lead, Harvey Brand scoring after a quarter of an hour, but after the hosts equalised ten minutes after the break it looked as if we were off to Eden Park for a replay. Robert Carter had other ideas, firing home from seven yards with just two minutes remaining to seal a historic win, and sending his side into the Third Qualifying Round for the first time in their history.

Cray Valley PM played host to Hanwell Town, the Geordies having had a fine start to life in Pitching In Southern Premier South following their promotion from our ranks last season. The Millers cup hopes came to an end despite a first half lead- given to them by Daniel Bennett- as the visitors stepped up a gear after the break and scored two goals of their own.

Folkestone Invicta bounced back from their surprise midweek defeat to Cray Wanderers with a comprehensive win over Chichester City arrive. Invicta were unbeaten prior to that match with Wands, and quickly found their form once more, two-nil up inside eight minutes through Adam Yusuff and Josh Vincent. The third took a long time coming, arriving three minutes from time-mIra Jackson scoring his first goal since his return to the club.

Lewes scored eight goals against Pitching In Isthmian South East opposition in the last round, but we expected Three Bridges to put up a stronger fight as they arrived at the Dripping Pan for a Sussex derby- and we were right; indeed they were seconds from a famous victory. Kieron Pamment- a former Rook- gave Bridges the lead nine minutes after the break, but right at the end Razz Coleman De-Graft earned his side a reply. We expect you could hear the sigh of relief from the majority of the one thousand, one hundred and seventy eight watching on as far away as Crawley.

Metropolitan Police were the hosts for Burgess Hill Town, and their boss Jay Lovett, who used to play at Imber Court. The Hillians, despite difficulties in the league, had been fabulous in cup competitions, beating Corinthian-Casuals and Felixstowe & Walton United on the road in their last two matches- but they couldn’t make it three out of three, the boys in blue winning three-one. Jeff Duah-Kessie got his first Hillians goal- an equaliser just before the hour-but that was as good as it got for the travelling faithful, who later witnessed Brad Santos see red.

Phoenix Sports welcomed Sevenoaks Town. Oaks knocked out Premier side Kingstonian in the last round and had Ryan Gondoh already on six goals for the season, and had recent history on their side having beaten Sports twice last season- and the form of Gondoh was the difference once more, as he scored the only goal on twenty six minutes. Corey Holder’s red card made it difficult for Oaks, but they held on.

Walton & Hersham v Chatham Town was broadcast live by the BBC, so you may already know what happened! The Swans opened the scoring through Jordan Adeyemi on seventeen minutes, and added a second seven minutes later, Arsen Ujkaj doubling their tally. Both sides were in fine form, and the Chats bounced back, Jack Evans reducing the arrears just before the break, and we were off to a replay when Fabio Saraiva got the equaliser thirteen minutes before the end. One thousand and twenty watched on inside the ground, we haven’t managed to count all those watching on the iPlayer!

Ramsgate hit the summit with victory over Lancing- but they took three points by the skin of their teeth, Lancing having the chance to take a point from the spot right at the end. Emergency keeper Lee Hook was their hero, saving the spot kick and clinching three points after the Lancers had come close to taking what had earlier seemed an unlikely point. The Rams were two up by half time, Jamie Coyle and Theo Osinfolarin with the goals, but an own goal fourteen minutes from time got the visitors back into the game- and they’ll be disappointed to have left with nothing.

East Grinstead Town welcomed Sheppey United knowing that a win would take them into the top five- and whilst they almost snatched a point in the closing stages it would have been a travesty after Sheppey dominated the match. Our report of a one-nil win for the Ites is here.

Faversham Town had picked up two one-nil wins from their previous two matches, but were on the receiving end of the same result against VCD Athletic. Anthony Adesite got the only goal of the game.

Haywards Heath Town picked up their first win of the campaign, defeating ten men Littlehampton Town. The Golds started the day in fifth place, a three match unbeaten run having seen them keep three clean sheets- and they were on course for another clean sheet when Jordan Clark saw red on fifty eight minutes. Dean Gunner took advantage to give Heath the lead on seventy eight minutes, and Alex Laing made quite sure, adding number two right at the end.
