Beverland bids farewell to Ports

Portadown Football Club can confirm this evening that defender Howard Beverland is to leave the club in this transfer window.

Beverland, 32, joined Portadown in January 2022 from Ballyclare Comrades and would go on to make 26 appearances in all competitions for the club following his debut in the Irish Cup game against Limavady United on 8 January.

Portadown manager Niall Currie had the following to say on Howard’s departure

This was an extremely tough thing to do with Howard, but I thought we had to be fair to him after the great career he has had.

Going forward his game time would have been limited however he still believes he has plenty to offer, and to be honest I expected nothing less.

He has been an absolute pleasure to have around this young squad and we wish him every success in what lies ahead, he’s a top top person.

As we bid farewell we must acknowledge Howard as someone who was the epitome of a model professional during his time at the club with his attitude, determination and passion being an example to all – wherever he ends up next we wish him every success and thank him for his efforts during his time at Portadown Football Club with him and his family always guaranteed a warm welcome at Shamrock.
