New Delhi: In the latest development on the ongoing protest by delivery workers against Blinkit’s new pay structure, the delivery workers have met Gurugram Deputy Labour Commissioner Dinesh Kumar and submitted their demands, as reported by Inc42.

In the previous pay regime, delivery workers who joined Blinkit first were paid Rs 50 per order, whereas, close to 3,000 delivery workers who joined later were paid Rs 25 per order.

Under the new regime, the Zomato-owned quick delivery startup said that it will pay Rs 12 per kilometre to riders for order delivery. Further, as per the new pay structure, drivers will be paid only Rs 9 per kilometre during less busy hours, such as 11 AM to 7 PM.

Further, the workers have put forth the demand for water and toilets for the drivers.

Blinkit’s delivery drivers have been on strike for the past week. Its dark stores across Delhi, Gurugram, Noida and Greater Noida have been shut for past three days and as per another recent report, Blinkit has told its riders that it is shutting down some of its stores permanently.
