Bengaluru: Bengaluru-based Bobba Group has forayed into development of logistics and warehousing with the launch of a 75,000 square feet tech-enabled warehousing facilities at Bellary Road in the city.

Bobba Logistics warehouse near the city centre “will help companies reduce their transportation costs and improve their delivery time”, V S Bobba, managing director of Bobba Group, said.

The warehouse also houses a cold zone with a 452-pallet capacity, eight docking stations, and a remote-monitoring system. It has a complete provision to manage end-to-end supply chain needs, including newer strategies like micro-fulfilment.

The third-party logistic (3PL) facility will serve several industries including ecommerce. “Depending on the client’s needs, we offer first-mile, last-mile, and hyperlocal deliveries,” said Chandrakala Bobba, director at the group.

Bobba Group operates the cargo terminal at Bangalore International Airport and has interests in aviation, and ground ramp and passenger handling.

The company plans to set up 3PL facilities over less than 100,000 sq ft across southern markets like Chennai and Hyderabad.

The Industrial and warehousing sector has remained resilient over the last few years. In 2022, leasing by 3PL players increased 46% year on year and contributed 44% in the overall leasing, as per commercial real estate services firm Colliers.“The demand for 3PL is upbeat owing to the robust consumer demand,” said Vimal Nadar, head of research at Colliers India. “Going ahead, the sector is expected to see newer developments in AI and IoT-enabled warehouse monitoring and management systems to seamlessly dispatch orders, track them and evolve them into on-demand warehousing centres. We also see quality grade A properties entering the market, led by platform funds.”

The warehousing and logistic sector is expected to receive considerable boost with the Union budget 2023-24 focusing on infrastructure development and proposing record capital expenditure.
