Oil and gas production in Brazil topped 4 million barrels of oil equivalent per day in September, with production from the pre-salt province accounting for nearly 75% of the total.
According to data from Brazilian market regulator ANP, Brazil produced an average 4.048 million boepd in September, up 2.04% from 3.966 million boepd in August, setting a new record.
Oil production increased 1.99% to 3.148 million barrels per day, while natural gas output rose 2.22% to 143.1 million cubic metres per day.
Brazil’s previous highest monthly average was in January 2020 when output reached 4.041 million boepd.
Output from the prolific pre-salt province hit 3 million boepd — more than 74% of the total — with the Tupi and Buzios fields leading the way at 1.16 million boepd and 676,600 boepd, respectively.
Other highlights in the pre-salt included the Sapinhoa pre-salt field, which produced about 256,000 boepd in September, the Sepia field at 196,700 boepd and the Atapu field at 193,600 boepd.
The ANP said well 7-ATP-6-RJS, linked to the P-70 floating production, storage and offloading vessel at Atapu, was the highest single producer in September with a flow rate of 65,000 boepd.
