New Delhi: Warren Buffett-backed BYD has recently opened its first passenger vehicles showroom in Bengaluru with PPS Motors. This will be the company’s sixth showroom in India.

In November 2021, the carmaker launched its MPV e6 at a starting price of INR 29.15 lakh. e6 is the only product being sold by the company in India.

Spread across 1600 square feet, the showroom has well-trained technicians, service equipment, service bays, EV charging stations, a customer lounge and a showroom display floor, offering customers the best in-store experience, said the company in a media release.

PPS Motors had earlier opened its dealership last month in Vijayawada.

Sanjay Gopalakrishnan, Senior Vice President of Electric Passenger Vehicle Business, BYD India, said, “The Bengaluru region is one of the key markets for BYD India. Karnataka was the first state in the country to build an EV ecosystem and take the lead in electric vehicles. We are thrilled to enter the state with our first passenger vehicle showroom and our global expertise in EPVs, we are geared up for offering a range of pure electric vehicles in the coming years.”

Rajiv M Sanghvi, Managing Director, PPS Motors, said, “We have witnessed BYD’s success in India and globally. We are delighted to associate with BYD India and deepen our cooperation in Karnataka and be part of the EV revolution in India. We have received an overwhelming response for the brand in Karnataka and have already garnered 27 bookings.”

“The demand for EPVs is set to go up in the coming years and environment-conscious buyers will benefit from being able to access the best EPVs in their city. With competitive products of BYD, along with an in-depth understanding of customer requirements, we endeavour to provide the best ownership experience for our customers,” he said.

BYD India has two factories with a cumulative investment of over USD150 million. The business covers mobile components, solar panels, battery energy storage, electric buses, electric trucks, electric forklifts, etc.

With joint efforts of local partners, the company has piloted pure e-buses in Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Ahmedabad, Kochi, Chennai, and other cities.
