CALEDONIA – Artistic interpretations of automobiles in various media will be on exhibit at The Village Gallery, 3119 Main St., in September. Regional artists whose work depicts some aspect of an automobile are featured in the show, “American Icons: The Automobile.”

Seeing so many classic American cars still in use during a January 2020 trip to Cuba prompted gallery owners Bill and Linda White to host an art exhibit with automobiles as the theme.

“We are excited to continue the American Icons series following the success of our show on barns in 2019,” said Linda. “It’s wonderful to see the creativity artists can bring to an iconic theme.”

Works in a range of media will be featured, highlighting both representational and abstract references to the automobile as well as a few 3D pieces.

The show, which opened Friday, is on view through Sept. 25. Gallery hours are 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

The Village Gallery in Caledonia was established in 2017 as a welcoming, professional space for artists and art organizations to showcase and sell their work. The gallery offers a mix of open community shows and curated invitationals featuring local, regional and nationally known artists. A variety of art workshops, lectures, and artist discussions are hosted in its studio, along with a community art library.
