2022 Yunnan International Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition (YIIEC) Guide
Introduction of 2022 YIIEC
YIIEC is designed to provide a competition platform with practical incubation benefits for international innovators and entrepreneurs. With Yunnan’s special geographical advantages and relevant supporting policies, we seek to accelerate the development of Yunnan as the Science and Technology Innovation Center for South and Southeast Asia. In order to bring new advantages to Yunnan’s industrial development, it is essential to firmly establish the strategic position of talent leading development, attract more talents at home and abroad to innovate and start businesses in Yunnan, as well as expand our openness to the outside world.
The competition is open to projects from strategically emerging industries, such as biomedicine, new energy resources, new materials, advanced equipment manufacturing, green and environmental protection, highland-featured agriculture, as well as cultural tourism, and healthcare.

Evaluation Process: 15 August 2022
Preliminary Round: 22 – 25 August 2022
Finals: 19 – 21 September 2022

Participation Criteria
(i) South/Southeast Asia Competition
a) Enterprise Group
b) Team Group
Students with nationalities of South / Southeast Asia countries studying in universities in Yunnan or Students who are currently studying in South/Southeast Asia countries (core members of the team must be at least three people)
ii) Returned Chinese Student Competition
a) Start-up Group
b) Incubating Group
Awards and Supporting Policies
(i) South and Southeast Asia Competition
a) Enterprise Group
South and Southeast Asia enterprises that achieved the First, Second and Third prizes will be awarded the Science and Technology Projects Funds of 400k, 300k, and 200k RMB respectively if they register their company and start a business in Yunnan within 2 years after the competition.
b) Team Group
Overseas teams that achieved the First, Second and Third prizes will be awarded the Science and Technology Projects Funds of 100k, 50k, and 30k RMB respectively if they register their company and start a business in Yunnan within 2 years after the competition.
c) Other Policies
Enterprises that are based in South and Southeast Asia (including Chinese-owned companies there) that achieved the First, Second and Third prizes will be awarded an additional 100k RMB supporting bonus if they register their company and start a business in Yunnan within one year after the competition.
Enterprises and Teams that are ranked top 5 in their respective categories will be directly selected for the “Intellectuals in Yunnan (Zhihui Yunnan)” plan. The foreign team member who establishes businesses and research partnerships in Yunnan will receive 120k RMB of funds each year.
