City by City: Twin Ports, Superior, Hayward

Twin Ports- MnDOT will host another project meeting for the Blatnik Bridge this week. They will be sharing the latest bridge alternative plans as well as taking time to hear feedback from the community and answer any questions. If you’re unable to attend there is also an interactive map set up on MnDots website where users can leave ideas and pose questions about the bridge’s future. The meeting will be held Tuesday, June 21 at 5 p.m. at the Superior Public Library.

Superior, WI- The city and other local groups are teaming up for a community art installation. The City of Superior Environmental Services Division will be leading a community workshop about the project Wednesday, June 22. The meeting will introduce the 2022 Storm Drain Art Project. They will be working with local artists, businesses and other organizations to raise awareness about stormwater pollution. Artists will listen to community members to create designs important to the city that will also draw attention to the storm drains. The workshop will be held at the Superior Public library at 5:30 p.m.

Hayward, WI- Don and Sandy Sheehan were recently announced as Grand Marshals of the 72nd annual Musky Festival. Both graduated from Hayward High School and were married at the local church in 1969. Don worked in law enforcement including as Sawyer County Sheriff for 20 years and then came out of retirement to serve as Chief of Police. Sandy worked at the local bank. Both struggle with health issues but that doesn’t hold them back from their community. They are very active with the local ALS chapter, lead a walk every August, and volunteer for their church and local VFW post. They will be honored during the Musky Fest Parade Sunday, June 26.
