CommScope Gets $6.6 Million Patent Verdict Tossed on Appeal

CommScope Technologies LLC convinced the Federal Circuit to throw out $6.6 million in damages awarded to Dali Wireless Inc. for infringement of a telecommunications patent.

A jury in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas found that CommScope infringed U.S. Patent No. 9,031,521, and the trial judge refused to overturn that ruling. The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit reversed the judge’s ruling, finding Dali improperly wanted to interpret the patent differently when arguing that CommScope infringed and when arguing that the patent is valid.
