MARTINSBURG — WVU Medicine Berkeley Medical Center, Jefferson Medical Center and the WVU Health Sciences Center Eastern Campus will sponsor a virtual community mini-medical school program on depression.
The seminar titled “Depression in Older Adults” will air on Sept. 21 at 7 p.m. on the WVU Medicine Berkeley and Jefferson Medical Center Facebook page. Shano Thiyagalingam, M.D., internist and geriatric medicine specialist with WVU Medicine Internal Medicine – Martinsburg, is the guest speaker.
Depression can happen at any age, but older adults are less likely to recognize the signs and symptoms. Dr. Thiyagalingam will discuss how to prevent, identify and treat depression in older adults.
The virtual mini-medical school program is being offered free to the public as a community service of WVU Medicine and the WVU Health Sciences Center. Closed caption will be offered for the hearing impaired.
