Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, has introduced its latest addition to the fleet, a brand-new Boeing 787-10 Dreamliner, which touched down at Abu Dhabi International Airport on October 13. Following an inspection by Etihad’s engineering team, this new aircraft began its service, taking flight with passengers starting from October 15.
The arrival comes exactly three years to the day since Etihad took delivery of its last Boeing 787-10 on 13 October, 2020.
“The arrival of our latest 787 Dreamliner underlines our passion to grow this year by enhancing the quality of our customer experience and the reach of our network,” said Antonoaldo Neves, Chief Executive Officer, Etihad Airways. “This is all part of our vision 2030 supporting our growth as underlined by the new destinations to Osaka, Copenhagen and Dusseldorf we began operating two weeks ago.”
Notably, this Boeing 787-10 Dreamliner, along with three more 787-9 variants to follow this year, boasts a significant fuel efficiency advantage of up to 25 per cent compared to other aircraft of similar size. As per the airline, this commitment to sustainability is a key part of Etihad’s approach. In addition to the fleet expansion, Etihad Airways has recently expanded its connectivity by launching flights to three prominent destinations. In September, they initiated inaugural services to Dusseldorf, Germany (DUS), Copenhagen, Denmark (CPH), and Osaka, Japan (KIX).
Additionally, the airline has increased flight frequencies to popular locations such as Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (KUL), and Colombo, Sri Lanka (CMB).
