FACETS Sri Lanka Premier Edition concluded on Monday as the most successful exposition with over 5,000 visitors, nearly 100 global buyers from 20 countries and $ 10 million worth orders/sales achieved.

Held after a lapse of three years, owing to the pandemic and subsequent economic downfall, the Sri Lanka Gem and Jewellery Association (SLGJA) decided to organise the event at the Cinnamon Grand making it the first international exhibition in Sri Lanka, post-crisis, sending a global message that the country is returning to normalcy and is safe to visit.

As a result of an extensive promotional campaign about 100 discerning buyers from over 20 countries, firm believers in the quality of Sri Lankan gems and the ability of the industry to deliver the high-end quality product attended the exhibition.

A SLGJA Spokesman said visitors to the event numbered over 5,000, which was conceptualised on showcasing the extraordinary quality of Sri Lankan gems, while highlighting the spectacular Ceylon Sapphire which stands among the best gemstones in the world.

“The most significant factor of the event was that over a period of three days, sales and orders of over $ 10 million, were obtained indicating the industry’s potential in being a large contributor of foreign exchange to the country, especially in these troubled times,” he added.
