FG restates commitment to renewable energy

The Federal Government has reiterated its commitment to achieving a sustainable energy target for all in 2030.

The Special Assistant to the President in the Office of the Vice President, Mr Laolu Akande gave the assurance on Radio Nigeria’s good governance and public accountability programme “Have Your Say”.

Speaking on the prospect of energy transition plan, Mr Laolu Akande explained that the recently launched Nigeria’s energy transition plan to achieving universal energy access by 2030 and a carbon-neutral economy by 2060 which was carried out by Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo was designed to tackle energy poverty and climate change crisis in the country.

Mr Akande further Maintained that with the expansion of gas commercialization the high cost of gas will soon drop drastically

Contributing to the programme Yahaya Wada from Abuja and Nasiru Usman from Gusau in Zamfara state who expressed the believe that with the advocacy visits of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo to United States on the global movement of climate change in Nigeria these will go along way in tackling the challenges of epileptic power supply in the country call for state of emergency declared in power sector for economic development.
