Impax to bolster private equity and infrastructure team

UK sustainability investor Impax Asset Management has appointed Sean Maguire as its new managing director to expand its work within private equity and infrastructure.

Maguire joins from Statkraft, a Norway’s state utility company, where he was a vice-president. A renewable energies specialist with 13 years of experience, the executive has worked on M&A, debt raising and PPA structuring for European developers and utilities.

In his new role, he will be responsible for sourcing and executing new investment opportunities in the renewable energy sector, the London-based sustainable investment boutique said.

“The renewable energy investment opportunity in Europe is growing rapidly, backed by increasingly supportive public policies and objectives to decarbonise energy systems, said Daniel Von Preyss, executive director and head of Impax private equity/infrastructure.

The new appointment, he added, “will be invaluable as we seek to continue to grow the Impax Private Equity/Infrastructure division in 2021.”

Founded in 1998, Impax has one of the largest investment teams dedicated to sustainable development, employing 180 staff across five offices in the US, the US and Hong Kong. As of December last year, the firm had approximately £25.2bn in both listed and private markets strategies, investing in sustainability opportunities.
