India Allows Apple's Chinese Suppliers To Kickstart iPhone Manufacturing In India: Find Out Why?

Trak.in had earlier reported that the world’s largest technology manufacturer and service provider Foxconn, which is also a top global supplier of the revered iPhones will increase its workforce in India by multi-fold.

Among some companies that have received the initial clearance from India for expansion, include the assembler of AirPods and iPhone, Luxshare Precision Industry Co and a unit of lensmaker Sunny Optical Technology Group Co.

Due to  recurring Covid-19 cases in China, the country is taking stringent actions of lockdowns to keep fresh cases from accelerating. This is imposing production woes, which along with the country’s zero-Covid policy and trade restrictions has left many MNCs and production houses to meet immense disruptions.

As a result, organizations in masses are moving out of China and looking for similar options like India.

PM Narendra Modi is focusing significantly on expanding India’s manufacturing sector, by means of providing financial incentives and government support to foreign companies to bolster the country’s manufacturing projects growth.

Reports suggest that 14 Apple suppliers have received initial approvals from India even though a large number of the US giant’s products are still continued to manufacture in China.

The Taiwanese giant, Foxconnentered the Indian market and instituted its plant in the country in 2019 in Tamil Nadu.

The company now plans to boost the workforce at the plant by adding 53,000 additional workers over the next two years and take the total count to 70,000.

Besides, the Cupertino, California-headquartered tech giant said last year, “The new iPhone 14 lineup introduces groundbreaking new technologies and important safety capabilities. We’re excited to be manufacturing the iPhone 14 in India.”
