India vs New Zealand ODI Live Score: Coming off a first-ball duck, Shreyas Iyer found form with a neat half-century before Washington Sundar blazed away to a 16-ball 37 to guide India to a competitive 306 for seven in the first ODI against New Zealand here on Friday.

Besides Iyer’s 76-ball 80, Shikhar Dhawan (72 off 77 balls) and Shubman Gill (50 off 65) too struck fluent fifties after the tourists were sent in to bat.

Sundar smashed three sixes and as many fours to prop up India at the death, while Iyer hit four maximums and four boundaries, having entered the game after his duck in the final T20 International two days ago.

Over 200 illegal migrants deported to home countries from Libya

The Libyan Anti-illegal Immigration Department deported more than 200 illegal migrants to their countries of origin.

According to Nasser al-Khatroushi, head of the Deportation Office, the migrants, who are from Egypt, Niger and Sudan, were deported by land on Thursday.

The deportation was done for the first time in collaboration with the Anti-illegal Immigration Departments of Eastern and Southern Libya, the Libyan official told Xinhua.

Two coaches of Barauni-Gwalior Express derail in MP’s Gwalior

Two coaches of the Barauni-Gwalior Express derailed while no passenger was onboard in Madhya Pradesh’s Gwalior on Friday.

The incident took place while the train was moving from Platform number 2 to the yard.

Among the coaches that derailed was one general coach and another Seating cum Luggage Rake (SLR) coach.

China regulator says Tesla recalls more than 80,000 cars

Tesla Inc is recalling more than 80,000 China-made and imported cars produced from as early as 2013, for software and seat belt issues, a statement by the Chinese market regulator revealed on Friday.

The U.S.-based electric car maker has recalled 67,698 Model S and Model X cars imported to China between Sept. 25, 2013 and Nov. 21, 2020, due to software problems affecting the battery management system in the vehicles.

Tesla said it will upgrade the software of recalled vehicles.

Man shot dead in Rajasthan’s Bhilwara, internet services suspended

A man was shot dead and another injured by unidentified bike-borne assailants in the Bhilwara district of Rajasthan on Thursday, following which the internet services were suspended for 48 hours.

The victims have been identified as Tony and Ibrahim.

According to the police, it is a case of revenge killing. The bike-borne assailants opened fire on the brothers to avenge the murder of Adarsh Tapadia that took place six months ago.

Additional Superintendent of Police Jyestha Maitreyi said bike-borne assailants surrounded the victims on Thursday evening at the Badla intersection of the Kotwali police station area of Bhilwara city.

UN committee calls for probe into Xinjiang rights violations

A UN committee has called on China to immediately probe all allegations of human rights violations in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region (XUAR), including those of torture, ill-treatment, sexual violence, forced labour, enforced disappearances and deaths in custody.

Acting under its early warning and urgent action procedure, the UN Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (CERD) also called on China to immediately release all individuals arbitrarily deprived of their liberty in the XUAR, whether in so-called Vocational Education and Training Centres (VETCs) or other detention facilities.

10 killed in apartment fire in northwest China’s Xinjiang

A fire in an apartment building in northwestern China’s Xinjiang region has killed 10 people and injured nine, authorities said Friday.

The fire broke out Thursday night in the regional capital of Urumqi, where temperatures have dropped to below freezing after dark. The blaze took around three hours to extinguish.

The injured were all expected to survive and the cause of the fire is under investigation, the local government said.

The government of Venezuela and its opposition have announced the resumption over the weekend of long-stalled negotiations meant to find a common path out of their country’s complex crisis.

Japan’s ruling party mulls military export rules change

Japan’s ruling party is discussing whether to ease military equipment export rules, in part because without a change Britain would not be able to sell any jet fighters it builds with Japan, former defence minister Itsunori Onodera said.

Japan and Britain hope to agree by the end of the year to merge their next-generation Tempest and F-X fighter programmes, sources said in July. Those talks, aimed at a joint project to field a plane in the mid-2030s, remain on track, according to four other people familiar with the discussions.

“Japan could not oppose exports and neither could we insist that Japanese components be removed, so we are discussing what we can do about that,” said Onodera, chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party’s Research Commission on National Security.

The outgoing Chief of Army Staff (COAS), General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Wednesday created a controversy by saying that only 34,000 Pak soldiers surrendered to India in the 1971 War.

Addressing the Defence and Martyrs Day ceremony as Chief Guest, the army chief said, “The East Pakistan crisis, was not a military but a political failure. The number of fighting soldiers was not 92,000, rather only 34,000, the rest were from various government departments,” on Dhaka debacle in 1971.

Egypt has announced the release of 30 political activists from jail, the latest in a series of mass releases from detention amid intensifying international scrutiny over the country’s human rights record.

There was no immediate word on the identities of the activists and it was not immediately possible to confirm how many of them have already been freed.

The announcement came from Tarik el-Awady, a member of Egypt’s presidential pardon committee, late Thursday. He said the 30 had been in pre-trial detention, facing charges related to their “opinions”.

Delhi Metro to start double-line movement on Grey Line

Delhi Metro will run trains on both up and down lines with automated signalling system in the Grey Line section between Najafgfarh and Dhansa Bus Stand from Friday onwards, officials said.

Human remains recovered from trolley bag in Aravalli hills

The remains of a human body were recovered from a trolley bag in the Aravalli hills area near Pali Road in Faridabad on Thursday, police said.

The parts were discovered by a man who had gone to the hills, the police said.

Officers from Surajkund police station sent the body parts to the mortuary after a forensic team examined it, they said.
