InsurTech firm and strategic partners offer medical indemnity insurance to doctors

Singapore-headquartered JA Assure, a niche market InsurTech firm, has entered into a strategic partnership agreement with the Federation of Private Medical Practitioners’ Associations Malaysia (FPMPAM) and Independent Practitioners’ Healthcare Services (IPHS).

Through this collaboration, Doctor Shield, an online professional indemnity insurance platform will be offered to all medical professionals of FPMPAM.

Doctor Shield policies are distributed by JA Assure and underwritten by Chubb Insurance Malaysia, a general insurance company. Chubb Group has been underwriting medical malpractice insurance for decades.

The platform has features like instant online rate quotations, complete online policy issuance in less than 10 minutes, and instant online policy renewal.

Dr Steven Chow, president of FPMPAM, said, “Doctor Shield by JA Assure and Chubb has simplified the process of purchasing indemnity insurance. It is transparent and instant. The benefits are comprehensive and competitive.”

Mr Japhire Gopi, CEO of JA Assure, said, “Doctor Shield – our medical indemnity insurance solution – allows doctors to purchase their indemnity insurance online instantly.”

Founded in 2012, JA Assure has grown significantly since its beginnings in Singapore, expanding to Hong Kong, Malaysia, and other ASEAN markets.

The Federation of Private Medical Practitioners’ Associations Malaysia (FPMPAM) is the national body representing doctors in private practice in Malaysia. Founded in 1989, it consists of seven state-level associations that collectively have over 5,000 members. IPH Services was incorporated in October 2020 and serves as a corporate platform for the provision of affordable healthcare for patients via its network of Preferred Provider Clinics.
