This certification is awarded by FSSAI to those railway stations that set benchmarks in providing safe and wholesome food to passengers either through restaurants, food kiosks, fixed or moving stalls. The station has been awarded this certificate after an FSSAI-empanelled third-party audit agency gave it a rating of 5 stars. The certificate to Jaipur railway station is valid for two years till July 26, 2024. “Eat Right Station, an FSSAI initiative which was adopted by the Ministry of Railways, is a station where all the quality standard parameters are complied, in terms of hygiene, training to personnel who are serving the food to passengers and regulatory norms like pollution control. Measures like disposal of cooking oil from restaurants and other cleanliness parameters are checked as part of this initiative,” said Captain Shashi Kiran, chief public relations officer for north western railway. He said the process for the certification started around six months back.
“It is checked if restaurants and food stalls have nutrition charts put up or not, then the level of cleanliness being maintained in the station premises, especially from a health perspective is checked,” added the officer.
As part of this process, over 60 vendors at the railway station were trained and audited.
