A Cumbrian textile group is looking for new members after relaunching.

Formerly known as the Cumberland branch of the Embroiderers’ Guild, Cumberland Textile and Stitch (CuTS) has rebranded as an independent group after more than 60 years.

The group specialise in traditional and contemporary textiles and embroidery, working in a range of media including cross stitch, blackwork, quilting/patchwork and crewel work as well as free machine embroidery and the use of embellishing machines and soldering irons.

To celebrate their new identity, CuTS will be holding a series of free meet-and-greet events at Tullie House museum in Carlisle where there will be a chance to talk to members of the group and see them working on current projects.

Secretary Gill Goodfellow said: “We welcome stitchers and textile artists of all levels, especially those new to stitching who may have taken up the hobby during lockdown.”

The open days take place on Friday 10 from noon to 4pm and then Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 4pm.
