Kings Island is adding a new themed area for next year.
The amusement park announced Wednesday that Adventure Port will open for the 2023 season. Located between Coney Mall and Action Zone, the themed area will feature two new family rides and a rebranding for the existing Kings Island rides and attractions already located in the space.
Improvements and additions to Adventure Port include a refresh of Hank’s Mexican Grill, which will be renamed to Enrique’s and the Bier Garten. It will become a portside Mercado with options for drinking, dining and more.
“What I love about Adventure Port is that we’ve taken parts of the Adventure Express story and built upon it to create this new themed area,” Mike Koontz, vice president and general manager of Kings Island, said in a release. “When guests who have been coming to the park for years visit this area for the first time, the story will feel familiar, but it will be told in a whole new way.”
What are the new rides at Kings Island’s Adventure Port?
Sol Spin
Sol Spin riders will board open air, suspended passenger vehicles and fly 60 feet through the air at 25 mph.
Cargo Loco
Cargo Loco riders will board shipping barrels in a dizzying ride, where they will be able to manually control the speed of their spin with a wheel in the middle of the barrel.
Adventure Express
This roller coaster isn’t new (it first opened in 1991), but it will be enhanced for 2023, with a relocated queue line and additional theming, according to Kings Island. The roller coaster was also already repainted in advance of the 2022 season.
