Lecture explores deep water oil and gas developments in West Africa

A LECTURE about deep water oil and gas developments off West Africa will take place in Barrow next week.

The event will be brought to The Forum on January 19 by Barrow & District Association of Engineers.

The event is billed as: “Oil and gas fields in deep water have increasingly been exploited as the more accessible fields have become depleted. Their exploitation brings ever larger challenges for technology, scale and logistics and are a success story that is little heard about in the UK.

“Barrovian Tony Oldfield as, Project Director of most of the developments off Africa, has the first-hand experience to tell us about these engineering exploits.”

Martin Bates, BDAE Council Member said: “I am in awe of the deep water engineering that is delivered under huge programme and financial pressures. I am certainly looking forward to hearing more from Tony Oldfield.”

The presentation will be at The Studio, The Forum in Barrow at 7.30pm, on Thursday, January 19. The talk is free and available to all. Information is also available on the website: www.bdae.org.uk
