LG Electronics: LG Electronics India launches self-laundry service business, plans to invest $4 mn

LG Electronics India has ventured into the self-laundry service business in the country targeting the education sector where it intends to set up commercial washing machines. The company will invest $4 million in this business with plans to open 200 self-laundry service centres by this calendar year.

The South Korean company has tied up with Galgotias University in Greater Noida for the first such set up catering to 1500 students. Students will have the convenience of utilizing LG commercial washing machines through an app which will facilitate machine reservation, operation and automated payments.

Hong Ju Jeon, managing director at LG Electronics India said, with self-laundry service at educational institutes the company is entering into a new business venture aimed at enabling convenience for students.

“We will be investing $4 million in this business and plan to open 200 self-laundry service centres by the end of 2024,” said Jeon.
