VISAKHAPATNAM: Parvathipuram Manyam district has secured a good rank in the basic infrastructure theme among all the aspirational districts. For this, the district is entitled to receive an additional Rs 3 crore allocation. Under the aspirational districts’ programme, NITI Aayog monitors the districts’ progress on key performance indicators and provides performance-based additional allocation.

NITI Aayog additional secretary V Radha wrote a letter to the Andhra Pradesh Chief Secretary with regard to the same. The additional secretary informed that as per the scheme guidelines, the district has to prepare a plan of action/project proposal for the allocated funds and send the same to NITI Aayog for final approval of the empowered committee of secretaries constituted for the aspirational districts programme.

Parvathipuram district collector Nishant Kumar said that he thanks the entire team for their unwavering support. “Ever since the new district was carved out in April 2022, we have been able to get a name for the district at the national level. The credit for this recognition at the national level goes to every mason and labour who sweated it out to construct pucca houses for the poor beneficiaries. The credit goes to every employee and officials, who have walked in forests, villages, and hills to find land for telecom towers and handed them over to operators in such a short span. The officials left their families behind and went all out to provide connectivity to the poor tribal population. Improvement in infrastructure is clearly visible,” said Nishant Kumar. The District was included in ADP in October 2022. Under the basic infrastructure theme, the tribal hamlets and villages in the district are being provided with mobile and internet connection, all-weather roads, pucca houses, etc.
