The maritime ports of Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla, and Payra have been advised to keep hoisted the local cautionary signal No 3 to alert vessels of a possible squall although the land depression weakened into a well-marked low.

The land depression over South Madhya Pradesh and adjoining areas of India moved further west northwestwards, weakened into a well-marked low, and lay centered over the central part of Madhya Pradesh and adjoining areas, said a special bulletin of the Meteorological Office (Met) on Tuesday morning.

It is likely to weaken further, it added.

Under its influence, deep convection is taking place over the North Bay and its adjoining areas. Squally weather may affect the maritime ports, the North Bay and the adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh, it added.

All fishing boats and trawlers over the North Bay have been advised to come closer to the coast and proceed with caution until further notice. They have also been advised not to venture into the deep sea.

Meanwhile, Low-lying areas of coastal districts and their offshore islands and chars are likely to be inundated by tidal surges.

These districts are Satkhira, Khulna, Bagerhat, Jahalakathi, Pirojpur, Barguna, Patuakhali, Bhola, Barishal, Laxmipur, Chandpur, Noakhali, Feni, Chittagong, and Cox’s Bazar.
