Right now, just hold your breath as Mercedes-Benz India has finally introduced the localised version of the S-Class with a new price tag of Rs.1.57 Crores for the S350d and Rs.1.62 Crores for the S450 (all prices, ex-showroom, Delhi).

‘Made in India’ Mercedes-Benz S-Class
Exterior
Since the CBU unit was fully loaded and featured the AMG Line kit, therefore, visible changes can easily be witnessed on all four ends. The localised version of the new S-Class is available with the standard bumpers and even the alloy wheels have been revised as a part of cost-cutting.
Just to be precise, the alloy wheels offered on the recently launched S-Class in no way feel cheap or outdated.
Interior
Coming inside the cabin, almost all the changes feel subtle. The dashboard still comes with a large 12.8-inch OLED touchscreen infotainment system, a multifunctional steering wheel and a 12.3-inch fully digital instrument cluster. Talking about the infotainment system, it is still available with facial and fingerprint recognition with the latest software on board.
No more 4D surround sound system for the locally assembled S-Class. The German brand has decided to offer a new 3D surround sound system by Burmester as a replacement. Other features including ambient lighting, panoramic sunroof, 10 airbags, 360-degree camera, etc to name a few will continue to deliver their respective services.
Engine
Starting with the update as Mercedes has introduced a new S350d variant to replace the older S400d which was there as a CBU unit. A 3.0-litre six-cylinder diesel engine is still there to power the localised version. However, as claimed by the brand, it now produces 286HP alongside a peak torque of 600Nm, again, slightly lesser when compared to what the S400d used to offer.
The S450 variant remains untouched and is still good enough to churn out a massive 367HP and 500Nm of peak torque while being paired to a 9-speed automatic gearbox. Interestingly, even the diesel setup feature this same transmission and both of them are currently available with the brand’s 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system as standard.
