MANGALURU: Soon visitors who come to Mangaluru International Airport to receive their dear and near ones, will be able to meet them inside the airport terminal paying a fee, instead of waiting at the lower ground floor (arrival).

The MIA has planned to come up with a plan to allow visitors inside the airport arrival terminal. According to sources, the final preparations for the launch of the service are on. It includes permission from competent authorities, such as security approval from CISF, fixing of the designated place for the visitors’ gallery. The MIA has already set up the kiosk outside the arrival lobby and stated that each ticket will cost around Rs 100.

The details of the service will be made available soon. “Once the service is launched, visitors will get a chance to meet the arriving passengers inside the airport arrival terminal, instead of waiting for them at the lower ground floor, situated outside the airport terminal,” a source said.

Another official from the airport said similar services are available in other airports across the country and that the same is being replicated here.

Meanwhile, members of the public have said the fee that MIA is planning to charge visitors is slightly high and could be reduced.
