Aligarh : More than 80 Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) students got job offers from Multi-National Corporations (MNCs) and over 150 await job confirmations to be released in the coming week after a series of pre-placement talks, group discussions and interview rounds in the day-long recruitment fair, ‘SAIRAAB’, organised under the collaboration of the Training and Placement Office-General and the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) on November 13, Sunday at the Kennedy Hall Auditorium.
Companies such as Stepping Cloud, Marque Impex, TeleCRM, Suo Jobs, Believe Pte. Ltd, UHM Vacations, Mindtel Global Pvt Ltd, Bansal Classes, Antal, Feedpro and others attended the programme sponsored by Marque Impex and co-sponsored by Resolv Education and Training Programs (RETP), USA to find potential employees from among AMU students.
Speaking at the inaugural function, AMU Vice Chancellor, Prof Tariq Mansoor said, “AMU fosters awareness around multicultural education and our students come from all Indian states and different countries. When employed by MNCs, our students from different cultural backgrounds bring their own skills and abilities to the table for more informed and inclusive decisions. I am sure the culturally diverse strength of AMU students will appeal to employers”.
He extended gratitude to the companies lined up at the recruitment fair to hire AMU students and presented mementoes to MNC representatives.
Speaking on the impact of recruitment fairs, Prof Asadullah U Khan (Convener, SAIRAAB) said that these programmes provide students with a positive start in their career search as well as valuable skills for future career searches.
“Employers find the students they need to fill various positions and the campus benefits from increased visibility, high employment rates and better rankings”, he added.
Saad Hameed (General Training and Placement Officer) pointed out that the recruitment fair provided the students with valuable face time with people who can directly impact the success of their job applications.
“The MNC representatives including senior human resource managers and other experienced staff also gave the students an overview of what it is like to work for a company or a sector that seems interesting to them”, he said.
Dr Jahangir Alam (Organising Secretary SAIRAAB) enlightened the crowd with the objective and benefits of job fairs for students, university and the corporate world.
