Bhubaneswar: Chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday said Odisha is fast emerging as a major manufacturing hub in the country for sectors ranging from metal and minerals to food processing.
Naveen, who virtually attended a programme to lay the foundation for the projects, said the state government’s progressive policy framework and regulatory environment has ensured a favourable ecosystem for rapid growth of industries in the state.
Hailing the state’s relationship with the industries, the chief minister said it has led to economic and social development as well.
“One of the key reasons why Odisha was able to post a successful fight against the Covid-19 pandemic was this synergetic government-industry relationship. We were able to quickly re-purpose various industrial units to manufacture and deliver critical services during the pandemic period,” said Naveen.
Emphasising on industrial growth in the post-pandemic period, Naveen said the state government’s focus on 5T framework will lead to further development of the industrial sector.
Naveen, on the occasion, laid the foundation stones of 10 projects while inaugurating three other projects in diverse sectors, including food processing (seafood), polymers and plastics products, IT and electronics system design and manufacturing (ESDM), steel downstream and tourism. The projects involve total investment of nearly Rs 1,200 crore creating employment opportunities for 3,400 people.
”The fact that we are now attracting new investments in the tourism sector is another sign that our economy has registered a good recovery after the Covid-19 pandemic,” said Naveen.
Stressing on quick grounding of projects, Naveen said the government has been continuously focusing on attracting new investments as well as on rapid start to the projects.
The three projects which were inaugurated on the occasion include manufacturing of Horlicks and Boost in association with Hindustan Unilever Ltd at Tangi, Cuttack by Orifood and Beverage Private Ltd, a resort with amusement park at Bargarh by Entertainment Kingdom and a corrugated box manufacturing unit by Dasarath Nayak Multiproducts Private Ltd at Khurda industrial estate.
