Mon, July 30 (MExN): Irked by the deplorable road conditions along the National Highway 702 (Namtola, Assam and Mon Road), the Konyak Union, Mon Branch issued a statement cautioning that it would take action against the contractors who have remained oblivious to the plight of the public.

“In spite of repeated warning and orders to ensure the completion of the work, the contractors of Affluent Enterprise and Services remain oblivious to the situation on ground and pay no heed to the administration or the NGOs,” it said in a press release on Saturday.

In such a situation, the release stated that the KU. Mon Branch would be “compelled to take actions which is deemed fit.” It also added that the Union has decided to pursue the matter relentlessly until the public of Mon district is able to access good roads.

Meanwhile, the KU, Mon Branch extended support and appreciation to the KU, Tizit Unit and Tizit Area Students’ Union for calling a 24 hour ‘chaka bandh’ to protest the deplorable road conditions along ‘the only lifeline of Mon district.’
