NOIA Working to Ensure Gender Diversity in Oil and Gas Industry

The Newfoundland and Labrador Offshore Industry Association is taking steps to ensure gender diversity in its leadership.

At a virtual meeting last Tuesday, Noia members voted unanimously to change the composition of its board of directors to make sure it is one-third female.

Board Chair Karen Winsor says the decision is reflective of where they feel they should be as an association, and as an industry, saying she feels “extremely pleased” that their members felt such a change was appropriate.

As well, members also voted to dedicate a director position for companies with 50 employees or less, which Winsor says is the “heart of our membership.”
