BHUBANESWAR: Members of the Odisha Medical Services Association (OMSA) has requested chief minister Naveen Patnaik to fulfil their demands discussed with the officers of the government on March 12.
OMSA president Narayana Rout said they do not want an increase in the retirement age limit from 62 years to 65 years.
“If the government continues with this 65-year age limit, it should allow a doctor who wants to take retirement at the age of 62 years. Except patient treatment, a doctor should not be given any administrative posts after the age of 62 years. Promotion of the juniors should not be hampered,” he added.
He said doctors from the Odisha medical health services cadre should be given promotion according to the pattern of the Centre’s dynamic assured career progression (DACP) scheme.
He also demanded cadre restructuring of dental doctors with the benefit of the DACP scheme.
Rout said the government should regularise the services of some ad-hoc doctors who cannot appear for examinations conducted by the Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) as their age limit is already crossed.
“AYUSH director is given special secretary rank, while other 12 directors of the health department are working in the senior administrative grade (SAG). These directors should be given special secretary rank,” said the OMSA president.
He said the state government had assured of the fulfilment of demands on March 12, but nothing is materialised yet.
“We request the government to pay heed to our demands. Doctors are working very hard to save the lives of people during this pandemic. Fulfilment of the demands will encourage the doctors,” said Rout.
