Parking control changes slated for several campus area streets and roads

[ad_1]

LEXINGTON, Ky (Aug. 2, 2022)  University of Kentucky Transportation Services will begin implementing parking permit control on several roads adjacent to campus beginning Monday, Aug. 1.

Paid hourly parking on a number of other roads in and around campus will also transition from Lexpark to UK Transportation Services control beginning Aug. 1. These changes are in conjunction with the 2017 land swap agreement between the University of Kentucky and Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government (LFUCG) where the city agreed to convey approximately 13 acres of roads in and around campus to the university in exchange for 250 acres near UK’s Coldstream Research Campus. Most of these land transfers officially took effect on July 1, 2022.

Permit Controlled Roads:

Effective on Monday, Aug. 1, valid UK employee (E) parking permits will be required to park in the designated on-street parking spaces on Linden Walk between Rose Lane and Avenue of Champions, Gazette Avenue, and Warren Court. Employee (E) permits will be required to park Monday through Thursday from 5 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Individuals with any valid UK parking permit may park in the spaces between 3:30 and 7:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday. No permit is required after 3:30 p.m. Friday and all day on Saturday and Sunday.

Effective on Monday, Aug. 15, on-street parking on Rose Lane will transition to permit controlled parking. Valid R12 student residential permits will be required to park in these designated on-street parking spaces while classes are in official session.

Paid Parking:

On Monday, Aug. 1, Lexpark will transition management to UK Transportation Services of on-street paid parking spaces on Martin Luther King Boulevard and Lexington Avenue between Avenue of Champions and East Maxwell, in addition to Press and Leader avenues. While this transition may result in different signage, payment methods and prices, the use of the spaces will generally remain the same.

Other Impacted Roads:

Other roads in and around campus have also transitioned to UK ownership, but parking control remains unchanged following the transfer. These include State Street, University Avenue, Conn Terrace, and Transcript Avenue between South Limestone and Elizabeth Street in addition to Woodland Avenue south of Rose Lane, and other less notable roads and alleys.

Please note that signage, parking stall and curb painting, and parking meter installations will be ongoing in the coming weeks.

If you have questions or need more information, please contact UK Transportation Services.
