The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) on Wednesday monitored 23,329 outbound passengers and 21,119 inbound passengers at all ports nationwide.

In an advisory, the PCG said it also deployed 2,551 personnel who inspected 313 vessels and 433 motorbancas from 6 a.m. to 12 noon.

“Aside from upholding maritime security and maritime safety, PCG personnel also aid in the implementation of health protocols to promote public health and safety,” the Coast Guard said.

The Coast Guard earlier said operations in ports remained normal in the midst of a surge in the number of returning travelers after the observation of All Saints’ Day.

Meanwhile, the PCG will also remain alert until Friday to secure returning travelers after the long Undas holiday weekend. — Richa Noriega/BM, GMA News
