MUMBAI: The Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB), the government’s hunter, has rejected the three candidates who were interviewed for the post of Chairman and Managing Director of Indian Railway Finance Corporation Ltd, including the company’s finance director and acting chief executive Shelly Verma.

“Keeping in view the strategic importance and vision for the Company and its future, and the performance of the candidates interviewed, the Board did not recommend any candidate and advised the Ministry of Railways to choose an alternative method of selection, including search-cum-selection committee, as deemed appropriate for the selection, with the approval of the competent authority,” PESB wrote on its website after the interview.

Apart from Shelly Verma, Director (Finance), Indian Railway Finance Corporation Ltd (IRFC), the PESB interviewed M Nagaraj, Director (Corporate Planning), Housing & Urban Development Corporation Ltd (HUDCO) and Bijaya Kumar Mishra, Divisional Railway Manager, Indian Railways for the top job at the Mumbai-listed company on 9 October.

Shelly Verma, Director (Finance), IRFC Ltd was entrusted with the additional charge of CMD from 15 October 2022 for one year or until further orders, whichever is earlier, after the government sacked Amitabh Banerjee from the post for alleged corrupt practices.
