Plan to widen major roads in Capital

Capital road infrastructure will get major boost in coming days as Ranchi will have flyovers, boarder roads and others. The move is to get rid of the problem of traffic congestion in the city.

 

The urban development department is planning to convert Albert Ekka Chowk-Kutchery Chowk Road and Kuchery Chowk to Jail More four-lane with drains along both sides of the four-lane road. Apart from this, there is also a plan to broaden the road connecting the old police line with Ranchi Municipal Corporation office and Municipal Corporation Office to Bargain Bazar.

 

Recently, principal secretary of state urban development department Vinay Kumar Chobey accompanied by a section of department officials did spot verification to prepare a blueprint for broadening of roads and construction of under passes.

 

The urban development department has planned to construct an underpass in between Shaheed Chowk and Radium Road and Karam Toli to Albert Ekka Chowk to ensure a limited number of traffic on Circular Road where traffic congestion is a perennial problem.

 

The state urban development department to construct fourlane raod assume importance as few months back, Chief Minister Hemant Soren laid the foundation stone four-lane flyover-cum-elevated road project between Siromtoli Chowk and Mecon roundabout in Ranchi. The 2.34-km-long project will draw a net investment of Rs 337.5 crore.

 

In August this year, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren laid foundation stones for three road, flyover, and elevator projects worth about Rs 666 crore in Ranchi.

 

 The three projects include — 2.34 km four-lane flyover/elevator road from Siramtoli Chowk to Mecon Chowk via Siramtoli Chowk, 15.21 km four-lane road from Neori Vikas Vidyalaya to Namkum railway overbridge via Booty More, Kokar and Kantatoli and widening of 5.30 km road from Argora Chowk to Kathal More.  These projects will be completed in less than two years.
