Jaipur: The state’s Public Works Department (PWD) has started a campaign to repair 1,65,131 km of state road network, including 47,400-km length which got severely damaged due to prolonged monsoon, before Diwali, said PWD principal secretary Naveen Mahajan.
These roads include national highways, state highways, major district roads, other district roads, village roads and urban roads. “Out of 16,5131 km of state road network under maintenance of PWD, 3310-km length is under Defect Liability Period (DLP), 47,400-km length is damaged by rains and is being repaired with state funds. Stretches badly damaged by floods are being repaired with the State Disaster Relief Fund (SDRF),” said Mahajan.
“The rate contracts (RC) for road repairs have already been done in advance at sub-division and division levels. Roads which are under DLP are being repaired by the contractors who have constructed/renewed them,” he said.
“District-wide list of DLP roads has been uploaded on PWD website and are available in public domain for transparency. We have a target of repairing DLP roads by October 5. If the contractor does not complete the repairs of DLP road by October 5, PWD will get these DLP roads repaired before Diwali at the risk and cost of the defaulting contractor,” he added.
Mahajan also said at the end of the road repair campaign, exhaustive inspections of road repair for each district will be done by separate teams headed by officers of the rank of superintendent engineer (SE).
