Road behind Banaswadi railway station is in dire need of attention and repairs, say residents

If you live near the Banaswadi railway station, chances are that you have a Herculean task using the road to commute. Despite complaining numerous times to the authorities, people have a strenuous experience commuting on the road daily.

The citizens who reside behind the railway station slammed authorities belonging to the government and the railway that ‘despite constant reminders to the authorities, there is a lack of maintenance on the road behind the station’.

“Like all other issues, this one will also go in vain,” the resident added.

“Residents from the same area continue to dump solid waste on the roads and in the drains, raising health concerns for other residents, pedestrians, and commuters.

The garbage dumped on the road creates an unhygienic condition,” said Divakaran Meena Kumari. “There is no way a person can drive with ease in the area. Roads have been dug up, manholes are always overflowing and making that stretch slippery and undergoing a bumpy ride” she added.

An auto rickshaw driver said, “This road is very unsafe during late evening hours as there are no street lights. Many thefts are happening and there have been instances of three to four pick pocketing cases that have come into the limelight in just two weeks.”

The roadsides are engulfed with dust and that stretch is strewn with small and big gravel making the road uneven and bumpy for the two-wheelers to travel across and then losing control is a common phenomenon,” said another resident.

This road and area have posed a multitude of threats to commuters for a very long time now. Citizens want the authorities put in effort to fix the issues such as cleaning garbage, improvement of street lights and lastly, filling in the potholes and dug-up patches.
