SUMMERVILLE, Ga. (WDEF)- Flood victims in Chattooga County have multiple ways today to get some needed clean water after Sunday’s devastating flood event.

The city of Summerville along with the nearby community of Menlo is currently under a Water Boil Advisory due to the water supply being contaminated. This has necessitated water assistance across Chattooga County as water could be out for an extended period of time.

In Summerville, the city has brought in two water buffalo tanks that are stationed across the street from the Summerville Fire Department at 176 Cox Street. Officials ask that residents who show up to use the water buffaloes bring their own water containers to fill up.

The North Summerville Baptist Church at 119 Maplewood Drive will have volunteers from 9 AM-5 PM Monday giving away bottled water and clean clothes to anyone who needs them.

Additionally in Trion, the Central Avenue Baptist Church at 14074 U.S. Highway 27 will have volunteers from noon-5 PM Monday giving away two cases of bottled water and hot meals per family. They will also be giving away clean-up kits to anyone who needs them.

News 12 will provide further updates on anymore events that are scheduled to help flood victims in the days ahead.
