Manteca/Ripon Bulletin – May 14
Another battery energy storage facility is being planned in San Joaquin County. The latest would be located in Linden adjacent to a PG&E substation in the eastern part of the county. It would be able to store 132 MW of power — roughly enough for 40,000 average California households to use in a typical 24 hour period.
The Bakersfield Californian – May 13
Eastern Kern County has attracted another large-scale renewable energy project with a San Diego-based company’s $350 million plan to build a “green steel” plant in Mojave powered at least partly by renewable power, possibly using solar panels on site. Pacific Steel Group has contracted with Danieli Corp. to construct a mill that would slash greenhouse emissions in an industry that emits high levels of carbon dioxide.
Solar Power World – May 16
Arizona Public Service Co. (APS) has issued an RFP, seeking to add more than 1 GW of clean and alternative energy sources to its power supply. Proposed projects must be in service beginning in 2025 through June 2027. APS is seeking approximately 1,000 to 1,500 MW of resources, including up to 600 to 800 MW of renewable resources.
Solar Industry Magazine – May 12
IKEA U.S. and SunPower Corp. are teaming up to make solar energy easier to access. Members of the IKEA Family customer loyalty program will be able to purchase home solar solutions, available through SunPower, to generate and store their own renewable energy. Home Solar with IKEA is expected to launch in select California markets in the fall of 2022.
