Singaporean logistics and towage operator’s application allows shipmasters to view availability of provisions and pilotage services in Singapore
PSA Marine has launched a digital application that provides shipmasters with real-time alerts with delivery information when their vessels are alongside Singapore terminals
Called OHS-Sapphire, the application is available on PSA Marine’s OneHandShake integrated digital platform.
The application enables captains to receive real-time updates regarding the delivery of vessel supplies, which include spare parts and food provisions. Pilotage and other marine services in Singapore can also be accessed and managed through the platform.
“OHS-Sapphire helps our users to optimise resources and improve the welfare of ships’ crew,” said PSA Marine chief pilot and head of digital transformation Jimmy Koh.
This application on the digital platform means resources are used more efficiently by eliminating the uncertainty of deliveries.
By end 2022, PSA Marine said the digital solution will be extended to include supplying vessels at Singapore’s anchorages.
Singapore is the world’s top transhipment port with more than 1,000 container vessels berthing and 3,000 vessels anchored in Singapore waters every month, and OHS-Sapphire has received support from container shipowners who have multiple ships calling at Singapore.
“We are happy to partner with PSA Marine on OHS-Sapphire. That will play a significant role in helping us monitor our supply flows more efficiently,” said Yang Ming (Singapore) managing director Dannis Lee.
NYK Group South Asia general manager Yasuhiro Taguchi added “Real-time updates on the delivery of ship supplies is a game changer for us. For the longest time, we have been dealing with uncertainty, and it was not optimal from a resource planning perspective.”
PSA Marine said it would continue to work alongside maritime stakeholders to develop sustainable and efficient tools to lessen maritime’s environmental impacts.
“As a new feature on OneHandShake, [OHS-Sapphire] is also a step towards sustainability,” said Mr Koh.
“With better planning, truck drivers can reduce idling time and ship crews can take delivery of goods in a timelier manner.”
